What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient healing practice that involves the insertion of fine, hair-like needles into specific points on the body to promote healing.  By stimulating appropriate acupuncture points, imbalances in the flow of the body’s energy or “Qi” can be corrected.

Energy flows through the body via a network of channels called meridians, and when the energy/Qi flows freely in the meridians, there is balance and good health.  When the energy is not flowing freely, imbalances result, causing discomfort and illness.

Acupuncture is a proven method of healing, and can help with:

- Musculoskelatal Injuries/Pain
- Stress/Anxiety
- Sciatica
- Whiplash
- Carpal Tunnel/Tennis Elbow
- Pain in Back/Neck/Shoulder/Knee
- Arthritis
- Chronic Headaches
-  Difficult Menstruation/Menopause
- Insomnia/Fatigue
- Digestive Problems
- Fibromyalgia
- Easier/Faster Recovery from Surgery

 Initial Consultation

Balance energy flow for good health
The initial treatment will last approximately 90 minutes. During the initial visit a thorough intake is completed and a personal diagnosis is made. In Traditional Chinese medicine, each patient is treated as an individual with unique body mechanisms that are specific to only that person. Your treatment will be geared specifically to your body’s needs.

Acupuncture Treatment

Improving and Maintaining Balanced Energy Flow
A follow-up visit will typically take about one hour and entail a brief intake to check in about any changes that have occurred. After the needles are inserted you will rest with them for about thirty to forty minutes. Some people fall asleep; most feel very relaxed at the end of the treatment. The number of treatments needed will vary depending on what you are seeking treatment for.
